DR FELIX CHAN

Dr Felix Chan

Assistant Professor in Pharmacology

I lead a research group at the University of Birmingham called the Chan Lab (https://www.chanlab.co.uk/); where the main research interest is in understanding the role of metabolism in rare genetic epilepsy. We are a highly translational lab and look to use our understanding of brain energy to develop new treatments for rare epilepsy. This includes dietary treatment, gene therapy, and new drug discovery; among many treatment modalities we approach. I am also passionate about advocating for epilepsy research, and I am involved as a Scientific Advisory Board member for many other epilepsy charities including UK Rare Epilepsies Together, CRELD1 Warriors, and CureDHDDS.
